Four Score and 3Doodles ago…

We’re on day 3 of our weeklong exploration of the 3Doodler (click here for Day 1 and Day 2 ), thanks to my friends at MakerGeeks.com who sent over the 3Doodler for me to make with!

Naturally, I couldn’t go much further without an Abe Lincoln-themed post.

So here it is!

I wanted to make a 3Doodled Abe Lincoln head, but I only had a small amount of black PLA sticks, and I didn’t want to go crazy with the color, so I had to keep it small.

I started by doodling all of the facial features linked together.

Next I doodled a cylinder shape for the base. Then I attached the face to the cylinder.

Then I added ears and a beard. It was starting to look like Abe! But of course, it’s not Honest Abe without a top hat. So I started on that.

Next I attached the hat brim to the top of Abe’s head, then attached the top via a few strands of plastic.

Then I filled in the hat and hung it up. Not too bad!

There were two things I didn’t like though:

1. The mouth didn’t look right.

2. The beard needed to be closed on the bottom.

So I fixed those things, and voila! Honest Abe!

I love the way it came out, and it helps add even more Abe-Lincolny-ness to my office. And that’s always a good thing.

Stay tuned for the rest of this week as I make even more cool 3Doodler stuff. If you have an idea for something I should 3Doodle, let me know in the comments or send me an email!

And of course, make sure to check out my friends at MakerGeeks.com who made all of this possible by sending me the 3Doodler in the first place!
